Douglas K. Hodge, MAI, ARA

With over four decades of hands-on experience in agricultural and rural property valuation, Doug Hodge brings unparalleled expertise to AgValue Consulting. As Principal since 2022, he leads complex appraisal assignments ranging from large production agriculture, permanent plantings, conservation easements and pipeline easement valuations to mention a few. 

Doug began his career owning and operating a 280-acre dairy farm, grounding his professional practice in real-world agricultural management. He transitioned into appraisal roles with the Federal Land Bank Association of Caro (1983-1985) and Doane Farm Management Co. (1985), ultimately founding Hodge and Associates, Inc. in 1986. His leadership roles have included Vice President – Risk Management/Ag Appraisal at Nuveen, Vice President & Chief Appraiser at International Farming Company (2020-2022) and Director of Appraisal Services at Peoples Company (2023-2025). 

Doug holds a B.S. in Finance from Ferris State University and an A.A. in Business from Delta College. He has completed advanced valuation coursework through the Appraisal Institute, ASFMRA, IRWA, CCIM Institute, and RLI — including conservation easement valuation, federal Yellow Book standards, and investment analysis. 

Doug is a recognized leader in the appraisal community, holding the MAI designation (#9213) and the ARA designation (#797). He is licensed as a Certified General Appraiser in multiple states and has served on numerous professional boards, including past President of the ASFMRA and the Great Lakes Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. A certified instructor since 1990, Doug regularly teaches seminars on farmland valuation, eminent domain, and agricultural appraisal techniques. 

His comprehensive valuation expertise spans many areas including but not limited to, multiple agricultural and agri-business properties, ad valorem tax appeals, and expert witness testimony.
