Client Testimonials

Curtis was referred to me by a local appraiser here in Mississippi  as an expert witness in poultry farms and agriculture properties.  The case was a divorce with issues of martial assets which involved property value of eight chicken houses. My client inherited four of the poultry houses from her father and later built four more houses after being married to the defendant. I needed an appraiser who could testify in court as to the value of  poultry houses who could appraise the original four houses my client had prior to date of marriage and the value of new houses after marriage. Curtis did an excellent job of appraising the original four houses on  date of marriage and valuing the newly built four houses after marriage. Curtis also gave us an appraisal which deducted passive values of the properties owned prior to marriage which excluded increases in value due to inflation and not efforts of the parties.   Also, a residence was built on the property after marriage near the poultry houses and Curtis did an excellent job of valuing the residence as “overbuilt” and  valued it accordingly.  The appraisal was very difficult with many different approaches and Curtis did an excellent job with all of the issues in valuing martial assets. Curtis had opinions to back up all of his approaches which were very logical and the court adopted all of his reasons. I highly recommend Curtis for forensic appraisals in agriculture and especially involving poultry houses.

Curtis Bearden and Ag Value Consulting has unique and valuable experience in dealing with lawsuits involving property used in whole or part for agricultural purposes. With an emphasis on the business of agriculture, we were able to get invaluable assistance in a lawsuit asserting claims for a winery that was denied the local license to be able to operate under the Georgia statute. Curtis’s contacts and relationships within and around the industry were invaluable in all but eliminating the lost profits claimed by the unsuccessful venture. He provided prompt, accurate, and unique critiques of opposing experts and offer avenues of inquiry for preparation for deposition that should not have been anticipated by counsel or their opinion witness. With his help, we negotiated a settlement for 1/5 of the claimed damages number posited by opposing experts.
